Family Garden, Hertfordshire
_

This family garden in Hertfordshire is on a steep slope, so the owners had dealt with the problem by introducing a raised lawn with large wooden planters on three different levels stretching the width of the garden. My naturalistic planting scheme with a medley of ornamental grasses and perennials has been designed to balance the clean architectural lines of the wooden planters.  Planting includes Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’, Persicaria amplexicaulis, Verbena bonariensis, Echinaceas, the lime green grass Seslearia autumnalis along with the very tall grass Calamgrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ - Three Himalayan birch 'Doorenbos' add height and provide shade along the back border.
